Yurine Matsuoka was born in Japan. She first studied violin at the age of 10. She also turned to the viola at the age of 15. She chose to dedicate her graduate studies to the viola and obtained her Bachelor’s degree and then her Master’s degree in chamber music from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2017. During her studies in Japan, she particularly studied chamber music.
She then decided to study in Europe and worked with Bruno Pasquier at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris thanks to the support of the Kyoto and France Academy Scholarship, of which she is a laureate. Since 2021, she has been studying viola at the Conservatoire nationale supérieure de musique et de danse de Paris in the class of Pierre-Henri Xuereb.
